Insurance FAQs

What is a public adjuster?
A public adjuster is a trained professional to advocate on your behalf. A certified public adjuster is licensed by the Department of Insurance (and in most states bonded as well) to work for you, the insured.

Why should I hire a public Adjuster?
The insurance adjuster is hired to work for and represent the interest of the insurance company. It only makes sense to have your own adjuster making sure you’re not getting 10-40 cents on the dollar but to get the maximum. We have also achieved settlements on behalf of our clients who were wrongfully denied. Since we work on a percentage basis with no up front fee, it stands to reason we will fight for every dime owed.

Can I prepare my own claim?
Sure, but it stands to reason that the public adjuster who has years of experience and training can do so with more competence than the policyholder. More specifically, a public adjuster will assist you in the preparation of inventories, estimates and other factual proofs of loss. He or she will handle all the necessary details for compiling and filing claims, as required by the terms of your insurance policies. Your public adjuster will also confer, on your behalf, with insurance company representatives and handle all matters essential to a proper and satisfactory adjustment.

The claims process is just that, it’s a process. There are time limits, policy provisions and stipulations, steps the insured is to take to prevent further damage, etc. This is an emotional time for you; it’s your home or place of business. Your policy is a contract, you agree to pay the premiums, they agree to pay when you have a legitimate claim, however many receive low ball offers because insurance companies are not non-profit, they have share holders to answer to or top execs who want their multi million dollar bonuses. Not to mention all those TV/Radio ads cost money!!!!!!!

Why do I need help in filing an insurance claim?
The typical policy contains hundreds of provisions and stipulations – various forms and riders that are constantly changing and many complex details about your requirements in case of loss. Most people do not know or understand these policy provisions – and most do not realize that the burden of proof is on them, the policyholder. Most insurance company representatives actually prefer to work with an experienced public adjuster rather than an inexperienced insured. A public adjuster not only has your confidence, but also that of company adjusters who recognize that they are dealing with a professional.

Why should I engage a public adjuster to obtain what is rightfully due to me?
Insurance companies offer to pay what is due to you as they see it. Public adjusters are your exclusive representatives. With their experience and knowledge they are better able to obtain a more favorable adjustment for you, the insured.

How much do they charge for their service?
The percentage is based on the size of the claim, which is offset by the higher settlement we are able to obtain for you.

Can I hire a public adjuster to reopen my claim if I’ve already settled and received payment from the insurance company?
Yes, we can assess the damage and amount received and reopen the claim which does not count as a another claim against you. Again, no recovery, no fee.
